Avram Oh

Avram is a young artist diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who finds joy and comfort in expressing himself through art. His creative process helps him regulate his emotions, especially during moments of distress. Avram has a strong interest in robots, dinosaurs, and mechanical designs, which he incorporates into his artwork. Beyond art, he enjoys activities like playing Minecraft, reading comics and manga, building LEGO creations, and watching YouTube videos related to his favorite games.

Art Journey:

Avram’s artistic journey began early in his childhood, when he faced challenges related to speech, sensory sensitivities, and social interactions due to his ASD. He experienced regressive speech and difficulties with communication, which led to struggles in mainstream schools. After careful consideration, Avram was enrolled in Pathlight School, which better supported his needs.

Art became Avram's refuge and a way to express his imagination. Initially drawing dinosaurs, his artwork has since evolved to feature robotized creatures inspired by his love for games and media such as Plants vs. Zombies, Godzilla, Transformers, and Pacific Rim. He also enjoys creating designs based on his favorite LEGO creations and comic book characters. Drawing provides Avram with a space to reflect his emotions—when satisfied with a piece, he eagerly shares it, but when struggling, his disappointment shows in his art.

For Avram, art is more than just a creative outlet; it’s a vital form of self-expression that enables him to connect with his world in a unique and personal way.
